The Legacy of Superman
As the Superman books take an unexpected break for a few months, DC published some special issues to fill in the void and to presumably keep its contract talent busy. These issues don't have triangle numbers, but they're essential reading in the ongoing story.
Rose Forrest has a burglary at her apartment so the landlord installs bars on the windows. However, this triggers her split personality Thorn to come out at night and fight crime.
Inspector Henderson confronts Gangbuster about his recent vigilantism and gives him a one-way bus ticket out of Metropolis, advising he get away before the authorities catch up to him.
Sinbad, the Quraci boy we last saw over 2 years ago, uses his powers again to stop some thieves who stole a shipment of weapons from LexCorp. Luthor's weapons self-destruct by design, and Sinbad thinks his powers were responsible for killing the thieves.
At Vanishing Point, the Linear Men show Waverider the Death of Superman as a lesson for why they cannot change history.
The title of this book might suggest it's a tribute issue, but it really doesn't have anything to do with the Man of Steel's legacy. Some of these stories are clearly pitches hoping to launch new titles for other characters. Thorn's episode even asks readers to write to DC if they want to see more of her. She would only make a few more appearances in DC's Showcase anthology series before disappearing into virtual obscurity for the rest of the decade. This would turn out to be Sinbad's final appearance.
Hellgrammite confronts George Markham, the LexCorp executive who contracted him to assassinate Lex Luthor II. However, it turns out to be Supergirl using her shape-shifting powers so Lex could trick Markham into a confession.
Supergirl tries to talk to Lois Lane for the first time since Superman's death. More Doomsday survivors are still being found under the rubble and friends keep hoping Clark Kent will eventually be found too. After losing their home underground, Underworlders try to seek refuge in Lex Luthor's new homeless shelter but the monsters aren't well received. It does attrack Luthor's attention and he thinks about finding out how many of them are out there and what their powers are.
The Legacy of Superman #1
Cadmus wasn't able to take a biological sample of Superman's DNA because his body was still invulnerable and his wounds have strangely sealed, but they did successfully make a digital copy of his Kryptonian DNA code on a disc. Director Westfield tries to take the disc by force using a new, upgraded and more obedient clone of Jim Harper he calls Auron. The Newsboy Legion clones try to steal the disc but it's recovered by Auron who defiantly copies it to his own hard drive before destroying it, and then flies away.Rose Forrest has a burglary at her apartment so the landlord installs bars on the windows. Supergirl and Team Luthor Special #1
Lex Luthor dons a suit of armor for the first time in the post-Crisis era and works alongside Supergirl and Team Luthor to fight crime in Metropolis in the absence of the Man of Steel. Lex Luthor's pre-Crisis battle armor was iconic, but this version is ugly and forgettable, especially with its unflattering helmet. It's short-lived, however, because Lex breaks his leg on their first mission and vows never to endanger his own life like that again. Lex and Team Luthor do succeed in stopping a terrorist attack at S.T.A.R. Labs. The terrorists are actually the same ones from Sinbad's first story several years ago, but oddly he doesn't appear in this one.Hellgrammite confronts George Markham, the LexCorp executive who contracted him to assassinate Lex Luthor II.
