Mrs. Superman

Superman forgets to take off his wedding ring and the world starts to wonder if he's married or not.  To add to their developing marital conflict, Superman hides from Lois that he spent 1,000 years with Wonder Woman.  This month has a series of beautiful covers by Dwayne Turner and Danny Miki, although they're not interconnected like last month's.

Superman #152

Continuing from last issue as if nothing else happened, if you weren't reading the other three series wouldn't feel like you missed three issues.  Mongul's son starts to train Superman to prepare him for a new villain coming to Earth, Imperiex.  Just like that, Superman's post-Crisis power limits are abandoned as if he just needed somebody to show him how to use his powers more effectively.  From now on, Superman will be stronger and able to withstand the vacuum of space or the depths of the ocean without oxygen.

Jimmy Olsen discovers that the Man of Steel is wearing a wedding ring in the picture he took of Superman's hand with Mongul's.  Jimmy decides to edit the ring out of the picture to protect his pal, but Perry White is furious when the Daily Star somehow publishes his unedited picture on the front page.

Like last month, Lois Lane narrates this issue and has an upside-down kiss with her husband years before the first Spider-man movie.

Adventures of Superman #574

A mysterious dealer is selling the DMN drug on the streets again, and Superman's jealous stalker Obsession returns.  Everybody is speculating who Superman's mystery wife might be, and Obsession now re-emerges wearing a matching Superman costume to make people think they're together.  Acting like a spurned lover, Obsession selfishly fights Superman until he convinces her to help him stop the monsters created by the DMN drug.  To prove her misguided love for him, Obsession tragically gives her life to stop one of the monsters from killing Superman with magic.

While Lois worries about the effect Superman's wedding ring will have, her sister Lucy worries about being unmarried and pregnant.  Perry White asks Lucy's husband Ron to come back to the Daily Planet.

Superman: The Man of Steel #96

Clark Kent returns to his apartment to discover it's been transformed with Kryptonian technology by the Eradicator.  The unseen Eradicator creates a manifestation of Kal El's ancestor Kem-L and challenges him to a duel with the Kryptonian warrior art of Torquasm-Vo, the name introduced here for the theta state Superman had taught himself a few months ago in order to defeat Dominus.  Lois returns home to find them tearing up the apartment, and Superman discovers it was an artifact she brought back from the Fortress of Solitude that drew the Eradicator to their home.  He destroys the artifact and everything instantly returns to normal, but the Eradicator watching safely from space begins to descend toward Earth.

Perry White is furious that Jimmy Olsen altered a photograph to conceal the truth, but he gives Jimmy another chance to cover a press conference by the Justice League of America.  To help Superman, the JLA members show themselves wearing golden rings which they claim are new communicators.  At this point, Superman and Batman hadn't revealed their secret identities to the rest of their teammates yet.  Fellow JLA-er Steel moves to Metropolis where he'll soon set up his base of operations.

Action Comics #761

While snuggling in bed on a Sunday morning, Lois teases Clark about who he thinks Superman would be married to, other than her.  Suddenly, Wonder Woman knocks on their window and Lois doesn't find the joke so funny anymore.  Superman called her to discuss the coming of Imperiex, but instead they get summoned to Valhalla by a more historically-accurate Norse god Thor, where they spend 1,000 years to help him defeat an army of demons invading his realm.

Through the ordeal, Superman remains faithful to his wife, but when they return to the same point in time they left, he doesn't tell Lois how long he was really away with another woman.  Lois will find out the truth later, but she's currently struggling with confessing her own secret deal with Lex Luthor to save the Daily Planet.

Meanwhile, La Encantadora breaks out of prison and will return next month.
