Sacrifice Aftermath

Though none of the issues this month are branded as Infinite Crisis tie-ins, they're heavily tied to the OMAC Project and Villains United series that are counting down to the Crisis.

Superman #220

John Henry Irons goes to the ruins of Superman's old Fortress of Solitude in the Arctic to find out what happened to the Eradicator.  Clark Kent goes to his parents' farm in Smallville to visit Superboy, who's now living there.  They each discuss their own recent mind control episodes, and Superboy reveals to Superman for the first time that he's partially a clone of Lex Luthor.  S

uperboy and Superman go to the Arctic to look into a disturbance at the old Fortress, and they're attacked by the revived Eradicator.  As seems to happen lately, their fight is interrupted by an OMAC.  It's unfortunate John Henry doesn't merit an appearance on this cover, as this is a reunion of most of the Supermen from Reign of the Supermen.

Action Comics #830

Lex Luthor's Society sends Dr. Psycho to Metropolis, but although he only supposed to observe the Man of Steel, he can't seem to resist the impulse to cause mayhem.  The villain Shrapnel robs a bank while Dr. Pyscho uses his pyschic powers to make innocent bystanders endanger themselves at the scene of hte crime, and then he makes them jump off building to distract Superman.  While this is going on, Lois Lane investigates people who had been controlled by Dr. Pyscho and she figures out who was behind the chaos.  Luthor sends Black Adam to stop the rogue doctor from exposing their criminal society, but Superman stops them before Black Adam can take Dr. Psycho away.

Adventures of Superman #643

Sacrifice aftermath

After Wonder Woman kills Max Lord, she and Superman are immediately called to conveniently timed emergencies caused by OMACs.  After all he's been through recently, Superman just wants to get home and see Lois, but after defeating an OMAC who turns out to be a 16-year old girl under mind control, he makes a stop at the Batcave to see Batman.  Clark and Bruce's relationship is even more strained than their relationship with Diana now.  Superman doesn't trust Batman after discovering what he knows about OMAC, and Batman doesn't trust Superman now that he and Superboy have both been mind-controlled in the last week.  When Superman finally gets back to his wife, all he can tell her is he doesn't know what to do.

In the next issue of Wonder Woman since Sacrifice, the cover depicts her dramatically being handcuffed by the police, although nothing like that happens in the story inside.  Wonder Woman goes to see Bruce before Superman does, but he refuses to see her and tells her to get out.

Superman/Batman #22

Imprisoned by the Maximums at the Maxidome in San Francisco, Superman and Batman communicate with each other in Kryptonese, a language which their captors can't decipher.  Superman fights his way through Viking, but then he's distracted by a girl falling off the Golden Gate bridge like Spider-Man's girlfriend, Gwen Stacy.  A four-armed her named Bug watches helpless as a goblin-like villain named Halloween throws the girl, but Superman saves her.  It was all just a trap by Robot to take advantage of Superman's heroic impulses, but unlike the other Maximums, Robot doesn't believe Superman killed their teammate.  Batman is captured by a beast-like creature named Wolven.  Against Batman's advice, the other Maximum's open the briefcase stolen from Wayne Tech last issue, and Batman is transformed into a Kryptonite Man!

Meanwhile, Bizarro and Batzarro pass through several alternate realities while looking for Superman and Batman, including Red Sun Superman's Soviet world, and Batman Beyond's future.  Terry McGuinnis hadn't been seen for several years since the TV series and comic book based on the cartoon had ended, and he wouldn't be seen again for several more years.
