Super-boy

The Superman books continue their separate story arcs, with no real attempt to reconcile in what order they could take place.  We slowly start to get glimpses of pre-Crisis continuity being restored, like Clark Kent having an identity as Superboy before he became Superman.

Superman #656

As Superman fights Subjekt 17 in Belgrade, he flashes back to his "lost" years when he was in Australia with Callie.  In this flashback, Callie mentions a "Super-boy" who had been sighted during Clark's years in Smallville, the first real acknowledgement of Clark's pre-Superman career since before Crisis.  Back in the present, we get a more thorough account of Subjekt 17's origin, in which is he was the surviving child of a pair of aliens who crashed on Earth.  Superman wonders if the same could have happened to him if his rocket had landed in the wrong place.  As they fight, Subjekt 17 first learns Serbian and then English, and starts to communicate with Superman.  Their fight is interrupted when Arion, Lord of Atlantis, arrives from the past.

Action Comics #843

Superman jumps into the power core of the Auctioneer's spaceship and emerges with his full powers, revealing to the other heroes that the power dampening was was entirely psychological, not physical.  They free all the heroes and villains who were trapped about the ship, and the Auctioneer returns to negotiate.  Threatening to have Livewire disperse his database across the galaxy, the Auctioneer surrenders, or as he puts it, accepts Superman's bid.

Back at home, Superman ponders what he's learned about a possible third Kryptonian on Earth, and also about a ship that the Auctioneer was expecting to arrive on Earth.

Superman/Batman #30

While fighting Kilowog, Superman becomes infected by the same alien that corrupted the Green Lantern Corps.  Batman gets called by an unlikely person who's been trying to reach him: Lex Luthor.  Though no longer in charge of LexCorp and still a disgraced former president and fugitive, Luthor believes he's found the source of the alien entity.  Batman reluctantly agrees to help and Luthor sends Batman and another former criminal, Plastic Man, to break into the Fortress of Solitude.  The duo fight a shapeshifter who's taken the form of Starfire, and inside Superman's safe they find the object they've been seeking: the black rock (last seen in Superman #223)
