Escape from Bizarro World
It's been less common to have a month where a single issue from each series comes out on time. Camelot Falls resumes, and then gets delayed again. Richard Donner's Escape from Bizarro World continues, although his Last Son saga still wouldn't be finished until months later.
Superman #667
Arion launches magical attacks against Metropolis, but Superman is unable to find where the Lord of Atlantis is hiding. Subjekt-17 finds Superman and tells him that he knows where Arion is, but he won't reveal it because he's not opposed to Arion hurting humans. In his twisted revenge logic, Subjekt-17 demands that Superman side with him as a fellow alien or beat the secret out of him. Though at first hesitant, Superman gives Subjekt-17 the fight he wanted. Defeated, Subjekt-17 discloses his secret and then fades like a phantom. Superman finds Arion under the sea in a city protected by a magical dome. Though he can't pass through the dome's magic, Superman creates a whirlpool down to the ocean floor that collapses the dome. All of this is recorded by LexCorp's new "scramcams", under the direction of CEO Lana Lang.
This was to be the last issue of artist Carlos Pacheco on this series, who recently died earlier this month. Camelot Falls wouldn't be continued in the next issue, or even in the next month. It wouldn't wrap up until the month after that in the next Superman Annual, the first one since 2000.
Action Comics #856
Escape from Bizarro World part 2 of 3In an opening scene reminiscent of the 1931 Frankenstein movie, Bizarro watches a girl throw dandelions over a balcony and then throws her off the building. Superman saves the girl and gets Bizarro to leave Earth. We then get to see how Bizarro constructed the square Bizarro World under a blue sun, and with his new Bizarro vision power, populated it with familiar versions of Bizarros like himself.
Back in the present, Superman rescues his adopted father Jonathan Kent from Bizarro's imitation of the Fortress of Solitude. Bizarro Lex Luthor unleashes a Bizarro Doomsday, that rampages through the other Bizarros. Before the monster can reach Superman, however, it's flattened under a crashing satellite, out of which emerge a Bizarro Justice Leage.
Superman/Batman #40
Torment part 4 of 6On a dwarf planet called Tartaros, Batman is saved from a mind-controlled Superman by the New God Orion's wife, Bekka. She reveals to Batman that when Superman freed Darkseid from the Source Wall (In Superman/Batman #24), the Lord of Apokalips had lost his Omega powers. Darkseid's master torturer, Desaad, had also located Highfather's staff on the Source Wall. Desaad offered to help Darkseid recover the staff in exchange for his own galaxy to rule. As the two hide from Darkseid's parademons, Batman can't help but feel an irresistible attraction to Bekka.
