Metropia

The recent shooting of Lois Lane still unites some of the books this month, while the Superman series reunites the Man of Steel with Lois after a lost year, and Superman/Batman takes place in a completely different reality.

Superman/Batman #15

In a world altered by the Legion of Super-villains, the Justice League doesn't exist and Superman and Batman rule the world guided by the villains who raised them.  Wonder Woman unites the Freedom Fighters to attack Superman and Batman's sanctuary, which is guarded by former members of the Legion of Super-heroes who have been corrupted by the villains.  Wonder Woman succeeds at stabbing Batman with a sword, but in retaliation Superman strangles her with her own lasso.  The Freedom Fighters find the time machine that Diana was looking for in the sanctuary, but the enraged Superman blows up the Human Bomb before they can escape to another time.  The resulting explosion destroys the whole world.  Eslewhen, the Kingdom Come Superman tells Metron that he has to go back in time again to stop all of this from happening.

The version of the Legion of Super-heroes which appeared in this issue hadn't been seen since before the 5-years later reboot in 1989.

Superman #212

For Tomorrow part 9

Things just get inexplicably weird.  After activating the Vanishing machine in the last issue, Superman is reunited with Lois Lane in a paradise she calls Metropia, where Clark Kent also exists as a separate person.  In the real world, Mr. Orr has taken Father Leone to an advanced lab where he's trying to cure his cancer.  Superman and Lois make up for their year apart without intimacy, while Clark Kent watches the Vanishing machine.  Suddenly, Equus breaks through the wall and attacks Clark Kent, but he's stopped by a mysterious general who tells him Superman belongs "to the one who is mine, the one who will kneel before me."

This cover is almost unrecognizable as a Jim Lee piece, but it exemplifies the oddity of For Tomorrow and how it was an experimental story that squandered the name and talent of its artist.

Adventures of Superman #635

To fight the new twin Parasites, Superman goes to the Steelworks and borrows Steel's armor.  Fortunately, the Allston twins aren't in a hurry to get back to Ruin to divulge Superman's secrets, they're distracted and causing mischief with the powers they stole from Superman.  With the armor's protection, he manages to keep the twins preoccupied long enough until the powers and memories they stole wear off.  After handing the twins over to Detective Leocadio, Superman locates Ruin in his hideout.

Lupe Leocadio goes to confession, and the priest is Father Daniel Leone in his only appearance outside of For Tomorrow.

Action Comics #822

Clark Kent requests time off from his assignment at "the shack" and takes the still-recovering Lois Lane to Smallville for some rest and relaxation.  Before they leave, Lois finds a pair of Lana Lang's underwear in their apartment, which makes it awkward when Lana greets them at the Kent farm.  Their plans of peace and quiet are further upset when a repo man comes to collect Pa Kent's truck, and starts towing it away before he even has the chance to prove he made his payments.

Konner Kent tries to stop him from taking the truck, but the repo man suddenly increases in size like the Hulk and punches him through the farmhouse.  When Superman unexpectedly shows up, the repo man asks him for his autograph.  Instead, Superman smashes him into the ground, but he only emerges bigger and stronger.
